Compute a base raised to any power, handling negative exponents (reciprocals) and fractional exponents (roots).
How it works
- Enter the base number you wish to multiply.
- Enter the exponent (power) to raise the base to.
- The calculator processes the algebraic power function.
Frequently asked questions
What does a negative exponent mean?
2^-3 = 1 / 2^3 = 0.125. A negative exponent is the reciprocal of the positive power.
What about fractional exponents?
x^(1/n) is the nth root. So 27^(1/3) = 3, the cube root of 27.
What is anything to the power of 0?
Any nonzero number to the power 0 equals 1.
